Okay, Bye are a pop-punk duo from Exeter and released their first two EPs as 12'' earlier this year via Schädelbruch Platten.
The record consists of two EPs (Personal Hell + Okay, Bye). In total, these are eleven songs divided into a good 30 minutes. Catchy pop-punk that not only sounds like feelings, but lets them burn into the skin.
The duo, consisting of guitarist and singer Grace and bassist and singer Tom, proves a good sense for melodies and songwriting, how else can these eleven songs be explained, which take you from the first second into the head of Grace to experience there all the doubts and questions, worries and fears that the singer is so concerned. It's about false and stereotypical expectations, about the danger of comparisons, about the problem of expected productivity in capitalism and the effects on one's own self. Personal Hell is also about friendship and one's own subcultural bubble combined with a personal lethargy because sometimes it's just too much and the desire to bury oneself is great because everything is just unbearable.
