SUIR take new directions with NOT ALL OF YOUR PAIN IS SELF CHOSEN and present a matured sound that marks a significant step forward.

Together with producers Mathew Johnson and Jonny Zoum, they created a new emotional sonic aesthetic, defined by ethereal yet driving, captivating guitars and energetic drums, enriching the band’s signature cinematic post-punk.

The special, close bond between the two band members—which also stands out during their live performances—is palpable throughout the album. Almost all songs were created through a collaborative writing process, and the lyrics often reflect each member’s perspective on the other. The continuously interacting guitars consistently capture this feeling.

The album was also shaped by the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic, leaving little room for anything but introspection. NOT ALL OF YOUR PAIN IS SELF CHOSEN offers a deep, personal insight into the life and thoughts of SUIR. Fears, worries, self-doubt, but also love and affection are woven into the ten songs.
