Cover Story: Covered Covers From homage to imitation: The legendary cover artwork for Elvis Presley's debut album is one of the most frequently borrowed album covers in rock history – and it's not an isolated case. Over 25 pages, we present over 50 other referenced cover artworks and their stories. Among them are The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Velvet Underground, Funkadelic, Frank Zappa, Pavement, Iron Maiden, Devo, and several hip-hop groups, who not only visually but also musically pay homage to jazz albums by artists such as John Coltrane, Donald Byrd, or Hank Mobley.
