Run For Cover Records

Release date: 8. May 2026

“Wired” is a hard reset for Basement. It marks the British band’s first album in eight years, a reunion with their original label Run For Cover Records, and a return to the untamed passion and creative intuition that have always defined their best work.

Since forming in 2009, Basement have consisted of the same five friends — vocalist Andrew Fisher, guitarists Alex Henery and Ronan Crix, bassist Duncan Stewart, and drummer James Fisher — bound together by the same alchemical connection. The only thing that has changed in recent years is their renewed sense of purpose. And their new album makes that abundantly clear.

“Wired” is the most dynamic, daring, and inspired work Basement have ever created, while still preserving the timeless foundations of their unmistakable sound: rumbling guitars, anthemic choruses, and deeply evocative emotional lyricism. Basement are back and firing on all cylinders, but they have no interest in repeating past glories. The entire band was determined that “Wired” had to become their clearest artistic statement to date.

The title track is the most urgent song of their career — a guaranteed live favorite driven by piercing guitars, thunderous drums, and a sky-high hook that finds Fisher’s voice in peak form. “Broken By Design” reveals the opposite character: dark, delicate, bass-led, yet unmistakably Basement in its immediate catchiness and brooding atmosphere.

Nothing on Wired sounds stagnant, and no part feels underdeveloped. The band drew inspiration from a range of adventurous predecessors (R.E.M., Interpol, The Smashing Pumpkins, to name just a few) without ever sounding like any of them — or like a copy of themselves.

The album title captures all of this in a single word. The textural connotations of “Wired” — metallic, sharp, jagged — reflect the album’s steely sonic landscapes. On a conceptual level, the title speaks to the band’s unshakable resilience: an analog band thriving in an increasingly digital world, without relying on nostalgic comfort. Five friends who have weathered multiple breakups and new beginnings, growing both as individuals and as a musical unit.

Basement have come to accept their destiny: they’re simply built for this.
