The album was recorded at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, Canada, under the guidance of Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung, Baptists). Their 2017 album "Burst" earned them various international awards and fans ranging from Lars Ulrich of Metallica to Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro. They have toured with Chelsea Wolfe, Russian Circles, and Thrice. Drummer Stefanie Mannaerts has fully embraced her role as a singer and drummer, showcasing her diverse talents throughout the album. The raw energy of her emotional vocals is reflected in the tribalistic drumming, while tender whispers mirror the gentle role of percussion in other places. Co-conspirators Stijn Vanhoegaerden (guitar) and Peter Mulders (bass) complete the magical circle with piercing riffs, dynamic basslines, and a delicate balance between uneasy restraint and unabashed aggression. Brutus spans genres such as post-rock, hardcore, metal, and pop, encapsulating the various facets in their unique sound.
