"Eventually, everything comes back! Even the guys in flannel shirts from Seattle aren't exempt from this. But COPPERSKY isn't from the northwest of the USA; they're from Utrecht in the Netherlands. The deep, feverish voice of singer Erik Zwart is strikingly close to that of PEARL JAM's Eddie Vedder, a Mookie Blaylock 2.0, so to speak.
But Matt Berninger from THE NATIONAL isn't far off either. Similar to the aging grunge heroes PEARL JAM, COPPERSKY are highly talented storytellers, and in their songs, they narrate tales of misfortunes, tragic experiences, and the hope for redemption, all wrapped in rugged music that also appeals to fans of Bruce Springsteen and THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM.
This would probably work excellently even without electricity. 'MTV Unplugged' in the making. Alongside uptempo rock numbers like the gripping 'Loose Ends,' there are extremely quiet songs like the darkly shimmering 'Leaky Roof,' or the euphoric-punky 'Hometown Show.'
COPPERSKY move right at the intersection between punk rock and Americana, also captivating fans of the flannel shirt sound of the nineties. Similar to KINGS OF LEON, COPPERSKY consists of three brothers and two friends.
There's still much more to come from the hometown of Marco van Basten and Wesley Sneijder.
