You can think of Karies as the common cousin of Die Nerve and Human waste, but you can also identify a lot of other influences, No Wave from Sonic Youth and the Swans in their early phases, or Down when they were still cool, that repetitive one , dull beat, a bass line that just doesn't want to change, a scrappy guitar noise that is brittle and beautiful at the same time, like ice-cold Colossal Youth, for example. My wife always leaves the room with such “annoying” music, you can actually find it exhausting, but I find it exciting how a few people can create their own world together, which pushes and pulls, massive like a log cabin, but but threatens to collapse at any moment. You just have to hear it. The highlights for me are “Ostalb”, “Jugend”, “Überlegen” and the title song, but you should listen to the record in one go, otherwise you’ll miss something.
“It goes out” is the second full-length album by the band Karies on This Charming Man Records - in the UK the album was released in cooperation with HARBINGER SOUND
