The band, which still proudly wears its thrash-metal and screamo roots on its sleeves, has steadily evolved its sound, incorporating euphoric elements of post-rock and shoegaze to spectacular effect. "Eunoia"—a word describing mutual goodwill between a speaker and their audience—captures this dichotomy of calm and chaos, distilling it even further to showcase the band truly in their element, both on stage and in the studio.

The album is made up entirely of songs the band can and wants to perform live. It was written around the idea of searching for hope and inspiration in everyday life while feeling powerless under the weight of the world.

The lead single, "Beyond the Raindrops", was one of the first tracks written for the project but was only recorded at the last minute. Its epic halftime groove and soaring, atmospheric guitars are as melancholic as they are grand, while Tetsu’s heartfelt lyrics were written in the moment—an honest response to the song’s haunting melody.

Other tracks, like "Whiteout", channel Envy’s frenetic origins, featuring a pounding drum solo that launches into sharp, staccato post-hardcore guitars, with vocals that swing wildly between guttural screams and torrents of spoken words.

The opening track, "Imagination and Creation", is described by ENVY as “a step forward into the future, using the past as fuel.” Blast-beat drums and searing guitars propel a defiant and infectiously hopeful vocal melody into the unknown, as a band with such a storied past learns to embrace the present to prepare for what’s to come.

"Eunoia", ENVY’s eighth album, is truly a milestone—striking the perfect balance between aggression and exhilaration. It sees the band’s revitalized lineup explore a latent sense of powerlessness in the face of a fractured and increasingly divided world.
