Originally released in 1987, Dawnrazor marked the band’s debut album and established their unmistakable blend of dark Western mythology, gothic rock, and apocalyptic atmosphere. Now, this groundbreaking work returns in a newly remastered, definitive edition — pressed on white vinyl and expanded into a double LP set for enhanced sound quality.
For the first time, this release brings together all 14 album tracks on vinyl, as originally intended. The opening song features a sample of Ennio Morricone’s theme “Man with the Harmonica” from Sergio Leone’s epic western Once Upon a Time in the West. The track “Preacher Man” is regarded as one of the greatest gothic songs of all time.
Founded in 1984, Fields of the Nephilim is the creation of singer and frontman Carl McCoy. The band is considered one of the most influential acts in the gothic scene — yet their impact extends far beyond the genre, resonating equally within the metal and electronic music communities. Artists such as Swans, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky, Wolves in the Throne Room, and Behemoth have all cited the visionary work of Fields of the Nephilim as an inspiration.
