"It took a while, but GOODBYE FAIRGROUND are finally releasing their second full-length album, I Started With The Best Intentions – already one of the best German albums of 2013. Time for some summer endorphins – and fans of AGAINST ME! and THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM should take note.

The release of the single already hinted at the direction the band has taken, and songs like “March of the Rats,” “Look Up, Hannah,” and “City Patriots” hit right on target. These are punk rock anthems made for fist-pumping and draw clear parallels to the New Wave era of AGAINST ME!.

In contrast, there are more dynamic songs like the opener “Nails” and the closing track “I’m On Six,” or the march-inspired “Mute,” which may seem hesitant at first but quickly turns into a future concert anthem.

It’s the infectious melodic guitar riffs that keep hitting right at the heart, all held together by the driving bass and restless drums. On top of that is Benjamin’s dry, serious, yet passionate voice, which propels the songs forward.
