On March 10th, 2023, Karies’ fourth album, ‘Tagträume an der Schaummaschine I’, will be released. The live break caused by the pandemic created scope for further conceptual developments: While the last album 'Alice' (2018) already broke new stylistic paths, the kaleidoscope of musical allusions was expanded again; Thomas Zehnle and Paul Schwarz joined forces as producers. The majority of the recordings took place in Stuttgart, where Schwarz runs rooms as part of a shared studio (Hotel Chelsea Love Connection). The mastering was done by Enyang Urbiks. The artwork was created in collaboration between Levin Stadler (Levin goes Lightly) and Dan Trautwein, the latter of whom was also responsible for the video production.

Karies are Benjamin Schröter, Max Nosek and Paul Schwarz after Jan Rumpela (guitar) took an indefinite break. Paul Schwarz, who helped out on drums for live gigs in 2018, increasingly shaped the new material through his role as engineer and producer and thus made a significant contribution to the new album. Paul Schwarz is also the drummer for Human waste.

Karies were founded in 2012. After the first EP in 2013, the album 'Seid umschlungs, Millions', produced by Max Rieger (Die Nerves), was released in 2014 via This Charming Man Records, which has operated as a label ever since. Tours and support gigs followed (Beatsteaks, Tocotronic, Sleaford Mods). In 2016 the second album, 'It's going out', was released ("Postpunk has rarely been so lonely, beautiful and perfect at the same time." - Ox). Karies have been part of the roster of the booking agency Powerline-Agency since 2016. In 2018, Karies released their third album, 'Alice', again produced by Max Rieger.
