Dark Tracks is the debut album of Stockholm-based singer Manuela Iwansson.
From first touring the world with punk outfit Terrible Feelings, her subsequent solo career has constantly gravitated towards a love for heart-wrenching new wave hits, while still remaining true to the dystopian punk aesthetics of her former sins.
Dark Tracks showcases a musical journey through leather-clad hard-as-nails late 70s rock and early 80s doomed romance, to savvy, tight pop melodies, and eerie, dark synths that drift across ten songs about denied desire and lovers lost. Manuela Iwansson’s music soundtracks the drama of the nocturne; the thrill of darkness and the beauty of the disappearing moment.
The album features duets with Bria Salmena (Orville Peck, FRIGS, Bria) and Jack Ladder (Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders), as well as a stellar line up of some of Sweden’s finest musicians: Henrik Palm (Henrik Palm, In Solitude, etc.), Elias Jungqvist (Viagra Boys, etc.), and Erik Klinga (Simian Ghost, etc.), among others.
