Flight 13
It’s rare for a band to seemingly appear out of nowhere in this country and then spread such a breath of fresh air as this trio from Cologne. Punk rock turns out to be more timeless than you might think, because this blend of ultra-short arrangements and beautifully melancholic, mature melodies works absolutely brilliantly.
Most of the twelve songs clock in at just over one minute or just under two — that kind of punchiness is more than welcome. We honestly wouldn’t have thought we’d be saying this about a German band these days, but the trio don’t actually need references like (early) Samiam, Leatherface, Snuff, or the punkier side of Archers of Loaf to make their point. Oh — and on one track, Dag Nasty singer Peter Cortner takes over the vocals!
