With “Alles was ich noch hab sind meine Kompetenzen”, pogendroblem tackle late capitalism—because, really, they know nothing else.

After we watched them navigate city life in Erziehung zur Müdigkeit  and their search for utopia in Ich – Wir, pogendroblem now hit the job market. They find themselves caught between alienation, sycophancy, labor struggles, and solidarity—between Generation Y and Z, lost in real life and online, moving between queer parties, plenums, and supermarkets. The band knows their future will likely be bleaker than that of their parents. AWINHSMK reflects attempts to process this reality, showing how they deal with the present through political struggle, coping, friendship, and punk. All they have left, after all, are their competencies.

AWINHSMK is the band’s first professionally produced full-length album. The 14 tracks were recorded in just one week under the guidance of Gregor Henning at Studio Nord—brutal yet playful. The band keeps their sharp social critique, dedication, live energy, and the playful charm that sets them apart from suburban life.

Musically, pogendroblem draw from ’80s punk with garage influences and a touch of poppy cuteness. But AWINHSMK expands their sonic horizon, with traces of major-pop, skate-punk, grunge, and even black metal. The record is rounded out by the four appearances of French horn, giving it a unique texture. Taken altogether—musically, lyrically, and visually—AWINHSMK can best be described as post-punk, in the truest sense of the word.
