With Fallen und Schweben, Rauchen release their most accessible yet mature album to date.
The Hamburg-based band stays true to its furious core, but for the first time noticeably opens up their sound — without pandering. Between shimmering guitars, crashing drums, and a voice that still asks more than it answers, a new form of melancholy seeps through: one that fights not only against something, but also for something.
Stylistically, the album draws on the rawness of the '90s — somewhere between emocore, noise, and early post-hardcore, without slipping into nostalgia. The closing title track FALLEN UND SCHWEBEN marks a turning point in particular: conciliatory, almost tender, yet unmistakably Rauchen.
The artwork was created by André Finster, whose minimalist visual language reflects the album’s tension — between ascent and collapse, aggression and devotion.
Fallen und Schweben is an album for those who seek comfort in noise and hear the echo of their anger in silence.
