Since 1999, Rocky Votolato has released seven albums that showcase an impressive canon of honest and heartfelt songwriting. They follow Rocky's vision of indie-folk-punk, which he developed and matured over the years within Seattle's music scene. Now, with producer Chris Walla (Death Cab for Cutie), he's created his eighth album.
But Hospital Handshakes is more than just another Rocky Votolato album; it marks a turning point in his career, emerging from a creative crisis. For over a year, he didn't write a single song, but in the summer of 2014, he found his way back to form, reigniting his passion for music. Votolato penned 25 new songs, recording them at Seattle's Hall of Justice Studio, where he previously created one of his most successful albums, Suicide Medicine, in 2003. He was joined by a host of Seattle music scene luminaries for this album.
