Waxlife
20 years after their last album, The Juice, the Sissies are releasing a 'new' album.
They focused on the essentials and their strengths—catchy riffs, slow doom influences, 'in-your-face' rock with distinctive vocals, and always with a wink (e.g., Bruce Lee ihm sein Grab), attention to detail (Nicht lang Fackeln im Sturm), and preserved childhood enthusiasms/memories (Nordsee). These three songs were deliberately given German lyrics to make the authentic content as tangible as possible.
The band’s love for 70s-90s rock is reflected in every note, maintaining a connection to other genre-defying artists like Melvins, Faith No More, Life of Agony (Bloodlust, Black, Cockroach Swing, No Preguntas, Protest), but they also want to show that Black Sabbath, Pentagram… are still revered (5 Reasons, She Junk of the Weak).
With this album, the Sissies encapsulate 26 years of listening to, experiencing, and loving records and have created an album that fits perfectly into their record collection—loud, uncompromising, catchy, and absolutely independent.
