Duncan Redmonds is a storyteller and observer, drawing on the British folk tradition of Richard Thompson and Martin Carthy, playing a punky Motown beat that is revered in certain circles but misunderstood by polite society. Rough songs with modern folk stories. Each story unfolds independently as you listen to their punk-soul blues on the new album such as in Green Glass Chippings and the cover of Curtis Mayfield's Hard Times.
The band worked on new material for two years. The new song ideas were initially reduced to the trio formation - organ and trombone were added much later, when the songs were pretty much ready. The 2020 lockdowns held up some rehearsals, but the ideas kept coming and the songs kept developing. Sometimes even in the park, where Snuff entertained the local dogs and their owners.
