"Münster is truly a great city for punk. Alongside bands like IDLE CLASS, NO°RD, or SHORELINE, SWAN SONGS fit perfectly on your record shelf. Even the band members themselves sometimes strikingly resemble each other. But let's get to the music.
With their new album, "A Different Kind Of Light," they dive deep into the emo genre. Driving rhythms with howling, twangy guitars in the background. Right from the first three songs, it's clear that predicting the mood and sound of the next track will be challenging. Sometimes it sounds like a punk ballad, reminiscent of the calm moments of TIGERS JAW. Then it transitions to a sound that almost reminds you of DRUG CHURCH before taking the tempo and intensity down a notch. It's a successful and diverse mix. It never gets too wild, but it doesn't need to. It's music you listen to while looking out the window, momentarily forgetting everything happening around you in a dreamy moment.
The whole experience is generally accompanied by group vocals because SWAN SONGS want to tell us one thing above all: these are songs to sing along to."
